Nixon: "One of the great features of America is that…once the decision is made, we unite behind the man who is elected."

Cronkite: "So VP Nixon is going to bed on this election night without conceding the election to his Democratic rival, Sen. John F. Kennedy."

LBJ: "I feel very confident…and as soon as you complete your tabulations, the verdict will be rendered, and it will be a satisfactory one."

Cronkite: "We are now declaring the state of Michigan for Senator John Kennedy."

Cronkite: "That gives him the election for the presidency on the basis of our tabulation here at CBS at this hour."

John F. Kennedy: "So now, my wife and I prepare for a new administration and a new baby. Thank you."
